Day one.
Day one complete. After the trouble we encountered yesterday with the bus being late and not arriving to our hotel until after 9 pm. One would have to say all in all a day of success at the medical clinic. We left this morning around 7a.m. to get supplies unloaded at the clinic. The local people prepared a wonderful breakfast for us and also lunch. Over 50 patients were seen and treated today. We started off the day sending one man by ambulance to the hospital and ending the day taking an ill baby to the local hospital who needed more care they we were able to give. The pharmacy was busy handling medicine. The eye clinic passed out glasses to those that needed them and everyone who comes through the eye clinic receives sun glasses as cataracts are prevalent in this area due to the sun. The new girls on the block Judy, Ava and Mindy tackled entertainment with the children. Besides the fact none of us speak Spanish and we did not have an interpreter we managed to do crafts and play outside with them. Soccer balls were a hit! All kids laugh in the same language. Ruth is learning Spanish quite quickly as Melissa is a wonderful Spanish teacher. God was working everywhere we looked today. From our wonderful volunteers to the Ngabe people. The Lord has given us all gifts to share with the people here but it's obvious that we are the ones receiving the gift. The gift of brotherly and sisterly love. Please say a special prayer tonight for the critically ill patients we saw today.
